How to Be Photogenic

Some people just seem naturally photogenic, looking great in any photo at any angle in any lighting. Most of us are not that lucky, but with a few tricks, you can take great photos every time:

Practice Makes Perfect: Spend some time looking at yourself in the mirror, practicing different poses, different angles, different smiles. Next, snap a few photos of yourself as well as have someone take a few for you, then analyze what looks best.

Left Side, Right Side, or Straight On?: Pulling off a constantly great photo when you are looking straight on is challenging because most faces are not perfectly symmetrical. It’s more likely that you have a “good side”. Practice taking photos from your left side versus your right side to see if one side looks best (studies show for most people, it’s their left side). This works for your body posture as well as your face angle.

Show Some Emotion: Think about what emotion you want captured in the photo. Do you want to look excited or happy or friendly? Think about that feeling when you are posing.

Primp a Bit: Yes, you may have naturally glowing skin, but adding a few touches of makeup will help enhance photos and make you look less washed out.
